M/V Dive Asia I Liveaboards

Similan Liveaboards: the diving cruises to the Similans have been operating for many years with onboard accommodation and facilities getting better each year. Liveaboards are no longer basic and most boats have air-conditioned cabins, photographic facilities and TV/video, making a very comfortable voyage.

The Similan Islands, located approximately 100 km northwest of Phuket in the Andaman sea - please click here to view a map,, form an area of great natural beauty and were declared a Marine National Park in 1982. Consisting of nine, densely wooded islands fringed with rocky outcrops and gorgeous beaches with fine talcum powder-like sand, the islands still remain the province of the locals and divers.

Diving is the main attraction of these islands. Huge granite boulders, caverns and swim-throughs produce a fascinating underwater landscape which attracts a huge variety of marine life, from tiny creatures to great Manta Rays. Water clarity is excellent and the scenery varies with each island. Ranked as one of the top 10 dive sites in the world, every trip to the Similans provides a new diving experience.

Dive Sites

Similan Islands

The Similan Islands - Click here to view a map - are surrounded by huge underwater rock formations, eroded by the action of a relentless sea. These stone shapes are home to an amazing variety of marine life, with depths often reaching 40 metres or more. With names like 'Elephant Head', 'Boulder City', 'Sharkfin Reef' and 'East of Eden', it's not surprising that the Similans are ranked as one of the top 10 dive sites in the world.

Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Surin Islands & Richelieu Rock

North of the Similans - Click here to view a map, close to the southern border of Burma are islands of Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Richelieu Rock and the Surin Islands National Park. They offer dive sites with a wealth of smaller underwater life and a great chance to see passing Manta Rays and Whale Sharks - close encounters with two or three of these magnificent giants are not uncommon around Richelieu Rock.
