M/V Nautica Liveaboards
8 Days / 8 Nights - Myanmar / Burma - from 72,000 Baht

M/V Nautica Liveaboards

Finally, the Burmese authorities have lifted restrictions and opened up this amazing archipelago to foreigners. The Mergui Archipelago in Myanamr / Burma contains more than 800 islands and stretches over 10,000 square miles.

In times when remote-controlled robots are exploring planet Mars, it almost sounds like a fairy tale: the Mergui Archipelago remains one of the world's last areas never before visited by divers. The port of Mergui was the main gate to the Gulf of Siam in the 17th century and acts of piracy were rampant, as all passing traders had to come into the port.

Mergui Archipelago seems to have by-passed our computerized civilisation without notice and still contains the spirit of the old days. The area is a goldmine for macro underwater photographers who can enjoy capturing on film tiny critters such as gobies, shrimps, nudibranches etc.

Underwater Photographers and videographers alike are able to find an endless variety of coral with many different kinds of marine life, including regular sightings of ‘the bigger fish’. Uninhabited islands, white sandy beaches, and the mystical jungle of the Mergui Archipelago are all waiting to be explored onboard of our liveaboard vessel MV Nautica – by you!

Dive Sites

Myanmar (Burma) – The Mergui (Myeik) Archipelago

The Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar (Burma) is a goldmine for macro underwater photographers who can enjoy capturing on film tiny critters such as gobies, shrimps, nudibranches etc onboard of our liveaboard vessel MV Nautica.

Extensive coral reefs around the islands are home to an abundance of marine fauna and flora. The symbiosis of an almost endless variety of hard and soft corals, with an even bigger variety of fish and many kind of other marine life, is still in its natural balance and remains mostly undisturbed.

This healthy environment attracts predators such as Barracudas, Sharks as Black and White Tips who regularly come in to feast on the smaller species. The frequent sightings of Wale Sharks, Manta Rays and Dolphins makes our Mergui expeditions even more exciting. Uninhabited islands, white sandy beaches, and the mystical jungle of the Mergui Archipelago are all waiting to be explored – by you!

South Twin Island / Myanmar - Burma

The bay of South Twin Island has three different dive sites with a depth around 16m. Big boulders covered with Staghorn and other types of hard corals provide shelter for a variety of small marine life. Outside the bay you can see schools of barracuda, jacks and tunas.

North Twin Island / Myanmar - Burma

The great plateau of North Twin Island starts at a depth of 20m and is covered with colourful gorgonian sea fans. Occasionally, curious white-tip sharks and barracuda accompany you on your dive in this amazing underwater landscape.

Western Rocky / Myanmar - Burma

A great sightseeing point for divers is the reef at Western Rocky, which starts at 20m and descends down to 40m. Observe the triggerfish playing cat and mouse amongst the bizarre rock formations, which are typical of this area.

Black Rock / Myanmar - Burma

Black Rock is another exciting dive site in Myanmar (Burma), known for some of the bigger pelagics. Here you can find everything. Come and see for yourself!

Northern Rocky / Myanmar - Burma

Parrotfish and large groupers swimming among schools of colourful coral fish and fan corals can be found at Northern Rocky. This extraordinary reef has a drop off down to 50m and is considered one of the best dive sites in Mergui.

Scuba Dive sites such as Black Rock, Burma Banks, 3 Islets, Cupola Island, Faraway Bank, High Rock, North Twin Island, Shark Cave, South Twin Island, Western Rocky and South Twin are only some of many fantastic dives sites at the Mergui Archipelago in Myanmar (Burma).
